LANSING — Michigan is working to become the new Eco Peninsula.
Accompanying the state’s focus on alternative energy is a marketing pitch by the Michigan Economic Development Corp., positioning Michigan to CEOs as the Eco Peninsula where “green is the new gold.” It’s a message built around industries that are a key focus for the state, such as wind, solar, biofuels and advanced batteries to power hybrid vehicles. It also sells attributes that not every state can claim, said Jo Bourjaily, management supervisor and director of integrated communications at Duffey Petrosky & Co. in Farmington Hills, which created the ads as part of the state’s “Upper Hand” business-marketing campaign.
